 OFF SITE BACKUP EXPLAINED

This is an area of development that has really come of age in recent
times. With the explosion of broadband services and businesses
generally investing in fast communication links this has opened up
opportunities to transfer large amounts of data electronically.

Provided you have some form of connection to the outside world
from your computer whether it be a standard dial up, ISDN,
broadband ADSL, SDSL or leased lines we can provide you with a
service. Obviously the more data you have to transfer the more
beneficial a fast communication link will be.

The service involves the installation of a piece of software, a client licence, to enable you to connect to our servers. You will be given a randomly generated password for security purposes and then allocated a pre agreed amount of space on our system hard disk drives. We will talk you through the configuring of the client licence and explain how you can set up the backup routine and how you can highlight the data you want copied to our system.

You leave your office at night and, having set up the scheduled backup, go home for a peaceful nights sleep assured that the data you have selected will be secure within a few hours on our servers. Upon your return to the office in the morning you will have an email telling you the backup has been complete and successful with messages explaining if a particular file couldn't be backed up for any reason. This method of backup means that you are being kept informed daily of any potential data loss rather than finding it out several days later when you need the document in a panic.

In the event of failures in the communication link the backup process is automatically restarted.

No dependency on staff, magnetic media or the need to change anything if you go away on holiday or are off sick
